The FLAAPM Chapter has served medical physicists in Florida since becoming an AAPM chapter in 1990. Read more about our history here. We hold two meetings a year to provide educational opportunities for physicists within the state.

Biography
Joseph Howley is ABR certified Diagnostic Physicist. Joe has been a practicing physicist in Florida for over 25 years. He has given numerous presentations on Diagnostic Physics and Radiation Safety topics. He is a graduate of the University of Florida, Go Gators. He previously served as secretary of the FLAAPM. Joe is a Florida Native. When not at work, Joe enjoys spending time with his 3 daughters and his pets.

Biography
Kyle R. Padgett, is a Florida native and has spent his entire life in our beautiful state. He received his Ph.D. in Medical Physics from the University of Florida in 2005. Following this he joined the faculty at the University of Miami in the department of Radiology specializing in MRI physics. In 2011 Dr. Padgett transitioned to therapeutic medical physics and became a faculty member in the department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Miami, he maintains an affiliate Radiology appointment. Within Radiation Oncology he has focused on integrating advanced MRI imaging applications into the clinic as well as CBCT and MRI guided adaptive radiotherapy. Highlighting his commitment to the next generation, he is the director of the Medical Physics residency program at the University of Miami and has taught several medical physics courses at the University. Additionally, he has served as treasurer of FLAAPM from 2017-2023 and on the national level he has served on a published task group committee, TG-307, and currently serves on the WGIMRT committee.

Biography
Dr. Sala is an experienced board-certified radiotherapy physicist. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. Subsequently, a Master of Science degree in Radiation Physics from Chicago Medical School, in Chicago, IL, followed by a Ph.D. in Medical Physics from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI as well as a M.B.A in healthcare management from University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS. Dr. Sala has served as a staff physicist for several years as well as Chief of Physics and RSO for multi-site institutions throughout the Chicago area as well as, Assistant Professor and System Chief of Dosimetry Services at Yale University Medical School, Department of Therapeutic Radiology. She is currently the Director of Physics at University of South Florida/Tampa General Cancer Institute.
Dr. Sala has extensive experience in both clinical and administrative roles. She continues to be involved in committee appointments within the American Association of Physicist in Medicine "AAPM", like the Midwest Chapter, Leadership Academy Progress Assessment Subcommittee, Investment Advisory Committee as well as the AAPM Journals Business Management committee. She has extensively served as a scientific reviewer for both AAPM and the American Society of Radiation Oncology "ASTRO". For the last five years, Dr. Sala has also served as an advisory board member for the Dosimetry program at Grand Valley State University as well as a clinical faculty for MD Anderson Cancer Center. Additionally, she is serving as an item writer for the CMD board exam. Aside from clinical experience, Dr. Sala's research has been focused on High Frequency Percussive Ventilation "HFPV" for thoracic tumor immobilization in radiotherapy.
On a personal note, Dr. Sala enjoys spending time with her significant other, family, traveling the World as well as learning about different cultures. Her favorite places are: Paris, Amalfi Coast in Italy, the narrow streets of Barcelona and the bright blue waters of Greece.

Biography
Dr. Mark Artz serves as Senior Director of Proton Medical Physics at Southwest Florida Proton in Fort Myers, Florida, where he leads physics operations for Southwest Florida's first proton therapy center. Previously, he served as Medical Physicist and Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Florida Health Proton Therapy Institute in Jacksonville. Dr. Artz holds a PhD in Radiological Engineering from the University of Tennessee, a Master of Science in Nuclear Science and Engineering from MIT, and an Executive MBA in Healthcare Leadership from the Haslam College of Business. He is board certified by the American Board of Radiology (DABR) in Therapeutic Radiological Physics.
Dr. Artz began his career at the MIT Plasma Science and Fusion Center, where he developed superconducting magnet systems for proton therapy applications and prototyped the superconducting gantry system that was subsequently commercialized by ProNova Solutions, achieved FDA 510(k) clearance, and successfully treated patients in Franklin, TN. He has commissioned multiple proton therapy treatment systems and authored over 20 peer-reviewed publications and inventions focused on proton therapy optimization and linear energy transfer modeling. He serves on the AAPM Particle Beams Work Group and the PTCOG Genitourinary Subcommittee.

Biography:
Ken Cashon has been in the Central Florida region for 31 years after completing graduate school at the University of Kentucky. He has worked in the Central Florida region since that time. Mr. Cashon is involved with the AAPM in many ways. He serves on several committees and working groups, including the Corporate Relations Committee, Technical Exhibits subcommittee, the Radiopharmaceutical Therapy subcommittee, and the Working Group on Errors in Brachytherapy. Along with these AAPM activities, Mr. Cashon is an adjunct faculty member for John Patrick University in South Bend, Indiana, teaching brachytherapy courses to medical dosimetry and medical physics students.
